neologisme
"Where are you going for your holiday?" "We're taking a staycation instead!" Neologisms. We often use them without even realising. Language is ever-changing, and thanks to our multicultural society, more and more new words have made their way into our vocabulary. "Webinar," "yeet," and "Brexit". These are made-up words based on events, slang or actions that have slowly infiltrated our everyday language. Whether they come from other languages or are entirely new, neologisms are becoming more common. Some may shout "language degradation!" whilst others chalk it up to natural change. After all, all words were invented at some point, right?
